Mike Sweeney Makes Midwest Real Estate News

by Suzanne Licata

We are honored to announce that Mike Sweeney, senior vice president of commercial real estate at Curry Real Estate Services, was inducted into the Midwest Real Estate News 2019 Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame

“Mike has been an integral part of Curry’s success for the last 20 years and we are delighted he has received this much-deserved recognition,” said Ellen Todd, president of Curry Real Estate Services. “He leads by example, helping the entire commercial real estate team maintain its leadership position in the highly competitive Kansas City market by keeping our client’s needs and goals at the forefront.”

Sweeney joined Curry in 2001, taking on roles of increasing responsibility as reflected in his 2014 promotion to senior vice president of the commercial division. In this role, he oversees major development and redevelopment projects such as the multi-million dollar facelift of the 162,000-square-foot Summit Center shopping center. He also works alongside clients to buy and sell investment properties and positions properties to attract businesses appropriate for each property.

Sweeney is a licensed realtor in both Kansas and Missouri and received his certified property management (CPM) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management in 1984. In 2013, he was recognized by the Kansas City Regional Association of REALTORS® for his top performance in retail commercial real estate.

He applies the same work ethic he has in his career to his work in the community. In addition to participating in Curry’s many hands-on, sweat-inducing community involvement projects, Sweeney launched and leads the landscaping crew for his church and volunteers as a Royal Lancer for the Kansas City Royals, receiving his own World Series ring in 2015 as reward for his long service to the team.

As a 2019 Hall of Fame inductee, Sweeney joins former Curry multi-family executive Ron Castle, who was inducted into the Midwest Real Estate News Hall of Fame in 2017.

On behalf of the entire Curry team, congratulations, Mike!
