Did you know that one in eight people in our region are food insecure?

That means they may have food now but don’t know if they’ll have it, or enough of it, in the future. Hunger affects every type of community – rural, suburban and urban, every age group and is a year-round problem. Its impact is grave. Without nutritious food, children can’t succeed in school, families don’t thrive and seniors can’t live a healthy life. Hunger contributes to poor health, decreased productivity and increased medical costs and can force families to choose between food and other necessities like utilities or transportation.
