An Exceptional Team
A good team makes a difference anywhere and that is especially true when you need to keep a thriving, dynamic apartment community like El Chaparral in Kansas City North humming for its hundreds of residents. (July 28, 2023)
“We are so fortunate to have an exceptional team,” said June Marshburn, El Chaparral property manager. Marshburn has been with the community more than eight years and with Curry Real Estate Services since 1999. The maintenance team is a standout, she said.
“Terry Giles has been with Curry more than 27 years, not all of that with El Chaparral but our residents have the benefit of his experience and dedication now,” she said. “Terry runs the work orders and we have had extremely low callback volume which shows that good work gets done right the first time.
“Dan Scott, he’s been with us seven years this year and he focuses on make-readies, getting the units all set before new tenants move in,” said Marshburn. “I check all the units when folks move out, move in, and rarely is anything missed.”
Chris Pebley rounds out the maintenance team, she added. He focuses on the extensive grounds, landscaping and the pool, which was built new just five years ago.
“We really depend on Terry, Dan and Chris and they come through for us, and our residents, all the time,” she said. “El Chaparral is such a nice place to live, and our maintenance team’s good work helps keep it that way.”
Marshburn said that the property is beautifully wooded and landscaped with playground, picnic and barbeque areas. El Chaparral is very close to walking trails. There are all kinds of services and restaurants, just down the street.
The pet-friendly El Chaparral offers studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments in the Park Hill School District with more than 230 units from which to choose. Marshburn said improvements are underway all the time. In process right now is the replacement of all the windows, sliding glass doors and toilets. Previously, all the balconies were updated and common hallways received new flooring and paint. “Curry takes such good care of the properties they own,” she added. “Our residents see and appreciate how well maintained and updated it is.”
Christy Valentine, assistant property manager, completes Marshburn’s team. She’s worked alongside Marshburn for more than two years and they have known each other much longer. They both work hard to create a healthy, family atmosphere for the El Chaparral residents.
“Our residents frequently remark on how friendly it is here,” said Marshburn. “I’m friendly, Christy is friendly because we care about our residents and want them to feel good and happy here. We have many long-term residents and for them and all our tenants, this is home.”
