Curry Bus Tour 2024
Recently, the Curry Real Estate Services corporate team turned off their computers, stepped away from their desks and boarded a bus.
For six hours, 15 Curry corporate office staff members traveled to and through 10 properties, both newly added and long-time holdings, multi-family and commercial, and saw for themselves the investments Curry has made to update and upgrade properties that they may otherwise only have known as ledger entries in accounting spreadsheets.
Some members of the corporate team get out to the properties all the time but not all. Enabling the whole headquarters team to get an in-person visual on properties, the areas in which they are located and the people they serve helps them in their everyday work to support onsite staff.
This year’s bus tour took the group to Antioch Annex & Antioch Village in Kansas City, Briarside Plaza and El Chaparral Apartments in Riverside, Crysler Plaza East & West Apartments in Independence, Summit Shopping Center in Lee’s Summit, and Brookridge Country Club Apartments and Windmill Shopping Center in Overland Park.
Patrick Flynn, vice president, multi-family, and official 2024 Curry Bus Tour leader, provided a packet for all attendees which included the itinerary, a map and a crossword puzzle that challenged everyone with questions like, “What multi-family property currently has 100 percent occupancy?” (El Chaparral Apartments in Riverside) and “Who is the new tenant at Antioch Annex that quacks deliciousness?” (Duck Donuts).
Onsite managers were pleased to show the group around and explain recent renovations and the history of their property. So many things were notable: The properties consistently full, how engaged so many properties are in their greater communities, how all are maintained The Curry Way – driven to exceed expectations – no matter how different in size, demographics, use, location and more. The team learned a lot about what the amazing front line Curry employees do on a daily basis.
The tour ended at Discourse Brewing, one of Curry’s newer tenants, located at the Windmill Shopping Center. Owners Amanda Luiso and Matt Britton hosted a tour and a tasting of their bustling tap room, a fun end to an educational day.
