Fanning with Summer Fun

by Suzanne Licata

Is everybody more fun in the summertime or is it just us? We do a pretty good job of squeezing in good times throughout the year but there is something about summer. It makes us want to play, as a way to say, we’re such big fans of our amazing staff and tenants! (August 15, 2023)

So, when does summer start? June, right? We jumped right in with a Chicken N Pickle outing to celebrate our stellar property managers who engaged in a little friendly pickle ball and corn hole competition, ate some fantastic food, got a little sun and had a lot of laughs. They’re so great.

Also in June, the season’s first tenant appreciation day was at Windmill Square in Overland Park. Melt Box Ice Cream, a small business we are delighted to support, brought its cold creamy goodness to take a little heat out of the day. That was so fun, we did it three more times at Curry Real Estate Services commercial real estate centers Summit Center in Lee’s Summit, Kearney Commercial in Kearney and Antioch Annex in Kansas City. We had a great time chatting with our terrific tenants and lapping up some of the best ice cream you will get anywhere.

Once again our El Chaparral Apartments played host to the city of Riverside’s “Reaching Riverside” event. It was so cool to see the community come together with families enjoying the bounce house and water slide, yummy Chick-fil-A treats and snow cones all while visiting with the city’s police and fire department officers.

Our Village Garden Apartments’ Hot Dog Pool Party in Claycomo kicked August off. It was fun to treat our resident families to KC Hotdog King’s delicious fare as they gathered around the pool and had a great time visiting with each other.

Our next celebration was a high calorie affair when we joined the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting for the one-year anniversary of Suvee Sweets Cakerie, 6045 NE Antioch Road in our Shops at Kendallwood Shopping Center in Gladstone. It was fun congratulating Suvee as we decided whether to help ourselves to a homemade pop tart or a cupcake or both.

Food seems to be a theme here because at the Brookridge Country Club Apartments’ annual Taco/Pool party, the tacos were calling our name. Calling our residents’ names too, as they came together to cool off in the pool, help themselves to those amazing tacos and enjoy the band on a perfect summer day.

It’s not that fun is over but our last official summer blast (furnace) party was for our super Curry maintenance team –they’re the best! We hosted them at Chicken N Pickle and, buddy it was hot! Under the heat dome our team got their yard games going and chilled over some delish food. It was a great time!

We know how fortunate we are that our tenants and staff are such good people! We want them to know we’re their biggest fans and if we can do that and have a little fun doing so, then winner winner chicken dinner!
