Curry welcomes Amanda Heuertz to the Kendallwood team.
It only took an initial conversation with Curry leadership about Kendallwood Apartments to sell Amanda Heurertz on joining Curry Real Estate Services.
“I thought, this is the company for me!” she said. “I really connected with Brynn (McCan, Sr. VP, executive administrator and HR) and Paula (Basham, AVP, multi-family). We are like kindred spirits. Then when I toured Kendallwood, I saw that everything is super well maintained. It shocked me how even the breezeways are so clean and freshly painted. Curry keeps everything top tier. I love how they manage the properties and their relationships.”
Heuertz joined Curry as property manager for Kendallwood in the fall. The native of Liberty, Missouri graduated from Park University with a degree in business management with a focus on marketing and a minor in graphic design. She started working in real estate in college, doing leasing and then pursued a deliberate career path in the profession. She learned on the job as she carried out leasing, property management and the corporate office side while serving in multi-family and senior living residential environments as well as commercial. She brings a lot of experience to her role as Kendallwood property manager.
“I always like to talk up how beautiful the property is and how great the management company is,” said Heuertz. “Nearly all the most recent renovations are completed and for the day-to-day, Curry has a staff of three make-ready technicians and three maintenance technicians for this community. Having such a strong maintenance team like that is amazing – unusual in my experience.”
Not surprisingly, Kendallwood is about 99 percent leased. “The property leases itself,” she said. “It is beautiful space at a terrific value and the management, well they are always there for you – for the tenant and their staff.”
Heuertz said she loves the work and has learned that patience, empathy, the ability to meet difficulties head on as well as clear and consistent communication with tenants and her team – all are key to having success as a property manager. “Not to forget good organizational skills,” she added. “There is always a lot going on and you have to be organized to give it all the attention needed.”
It is impressive that Heuertz handles the many duties as Kendallwood Apartments property manager while raising two young children, ages three and five. She loves art and squeezes in painting and other artistic expressions when she can. In addition, she has recently become a licensed REALTOR® in both Missouri and Kansas, which is no small commitment. “I’ve wanted to do that for a long time and it took a lot of work, going to classes and studying but, I am so glad to have achieved this goal,” she said.
For her tenants, Heuertz stays on goal, too. “I work hard for them to know that I am there for them,” she said. “If they need anything, for any issue or problem, they can come to me and I will do all I can to take of it.”
